WFJCSH&D 2022 Conference Program

The 2022 World Federation of Jewish Child Survivors of the Holocaust and Descendants conference will be held in St Louis, MO at the Marriott Grand Hotel November 4-7, 2022. This conference is open only to survivors and descendants and accompanying spouses/partners.

The conference begins Friday afternoon, November 4th with an informal get together. Check-in for the conference opens at 12 noon, and there is an optional add-on pre-conference tour of St. Louis from 12:30-3:30.

There will be Orthodox and Conservative/Reform Friday night Shabbat services followed by a festive Shabbat dinner  at 7 pm. After dinner there are gatherings for survivors by country of origin, for 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations, for all generations of the Kindertransport, and for spouses, partners and first time conference attendees. Saturday and Sunday are full days of speakers, workshops, and panels.

Small group workshops specifically for Survivors, 2nd Generation, 3rd Generation, Spouses and Partners will encourage conversation, understandings and connections on how being part of the survivor community has affected our lives. Intergenerational dialogue workshops, panels on Holocaust education, Creative Ways of Remembrance, how to start and maintain 2G, 3G, and intergenerational groups, and hands-on speaker training are also part of this unique 3 day experience.

Plenary sessions will include presentations by the USHMM and the Shoah Foundation on how to find a wealth of information in their online collections and archives, a panel discussion featuring Dr. Yonit Hoffman and Dr. Charles Silow on the effects of recent events such as the pandemic and the Ukranian crisis on  the survivor family, a presentation by Dr. Irit Felsen, and Jonathan Ornstein, leader of the Jewish Community Center in Krakow, Poland.

After dinner on Saturday, there will be music and dancing until the wee hours. Sunday evening includes a commemorative service, then dinner followed by dancing. The conference concludes Monday at 11 am after a panel discussion and closing ceremony. An optional add-on post conference trip the new St Louis Holocaust Museum is offered  12:30-3:30 PM.

We hope you will join us for a memorable three days as we gather together as a truly remarkable community of Holocaust Survivor Generations.
